Game Notes

- Oregon State ends its regular season when hosting Oregon Saturday at Reser Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 12:30 p.m. 

- The game will air live on ABC. Dave Flemming (play-by-play), Rod Gilmore (analyst) and Tiffany Blackmon (sideline) will call the action. 

- Saturday's game marks the 126th all-time meeting between the teams and 59th in Corvallis. Oregon leads the series, 67-48-10, and 31-21-6 in games played in Corvallis.

- The game will air live on the Beaver Sports Radio Network. For a list of affiliates, turn to page two of these notes.

- Every game this season can be heard live on the Varsity Network, a free application available via computer browsers, smartphones and tablets. After downloading the application, search for Oregon State.

Oregon State Notables

- Oregon State is 5-1 in its last six games, and has held opponents to an average of 14.5 points and 307.8 yards per game over that stretch.

- The Beavers have won eight games for the first time since 2012. OSU, at 5-3 in Pac-12 play, is assured of posting back-to-back winning conference records for the first time since 2008-2009.

- The Beavers are 10-1 in their last 11 games at Reser Stadium dating back to 2021.

- Damien Martinez is the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week.

- Oregon State is ranked 22nd in the both the Associated Press and AFCA Coaches Top 25 rankings.

- Over its last five games, the Oregon State defense has not allowed a first-quarter point. OSU has given up just 27 in the second quarter over that stretch.


Recapping Win 8

- Oregon State reached eight wins for the first time since 2012 when the Beavers went 9-4.

- The Beavers assured themselves of a winning conference record for the second consecutive season. That last happened in 2008 and 2009.

- OSU held Arizona State to 276 yards, fewest by an opponent in a road game since the Beavers held Washington State to 192 in a 42-10 win on Nov. 21, 2009.

- Oregon State also limited ASU to 122 passing yards, the fewest on the road under Smith. It's also the fewest in a Pac-12 game since limiting Stanford to 94 yards in 2021.

- The Beavers held the Sun Devils scoreless in the second half, the first time OSU has done so this season. That's the first time it has happened since shutting out Idaho in 2021.

- The win was OSU's first in Tempe since 2009 and fifth all-time. 

- The victory snapped a four-game losing streak for the Beavers when ranked.

- OSU held ASU scoreless in the first quarter and has now gone five consecutive games without allowing a first-quarter point.


AP Top 25

- Oregon State is in the Associated Press Top 25 rankings for the third time this season. The Beavers are ranked 22nd.

- The Beavers are also ranked 22nd in the AFCA Coaches Top 25. It's the first time OSU has been ranked there since 2013.

- Saturday's matchup marks the first between Oregon State and Oregon when both teams are ranked since 2012. It has happened three times previous to Saturday: 2012 (L, 48-24), 2008 (L, 65-38) and 2000 (W, 23-13).


At Reser

- Oregon State is 4-1 at Reser Stadium this season and 10-1 over the team's last 10 games. The Beavers went 6-0 at home in 2021.

- The Beavers are averaging 33.4 points per game. Opponents, meanwhile, have scored 172 total, or 15.6 per game. Just 21 of those 172 points have come in the first quarter while OSU has posted 94 in the first frame.

- Opponents are averaging just 308.8 yards per game, including 296.4 in 2022. OSU is averaging 411.3 over those 11 games.


Talking About Defense

- The Oregon State defense ranks second in the Pac-12, allowing an average of 330.6 yards of offense per game, 1 yard shy more than No. 1 Utah (329.5). The Beavers have held 10 of their 11 opponents to less than 400 yards this season. 

- From 2015-2021, the Oregon State defense had held opponents to 400 yards or less just 22 times over 80 games, which included 18 FBS foes.

- Oregon State is third in the Pac-12 in scoring defense, allowing an average of 20.3 yards per game. Only half a point separates OSU and No. 1 Washington State (19.8). 

- The Beavers have given up the fewest points in the league in Pac-12 play at 146, 18.25 per game.


Stingy D

- Speaking of the defense, over a six-game stretch, which has seen the Beavers go 5-1, Oregon State has been one of the toughest teams in the nation to score on.

- OSU has allowed 87 points over the last six games, an average of 14.5 per. That's fifth in the country, trailing Georgia (11.3), Michigan (11.8), Troy (12.0) and Air Force (13.7).

- The Beavers are the only Pac-12 team to hold opponents to under 20 over that stretch, with Washington State second at 21.2.

- Oregon State has held opponents to seven first-quarter points over the last six games.

- Additionally, the Beaver defense has held opponents to 76.7 yards on the ground per game, good for sixth-fewest nationally. Teams are averaging 3.3 yards per attempt.
