The Oregon State men's basketball team's season came to a close Wednesday evening, as the Beavers fell to Arizona State 63-57 in the opening round of the Pac-12 Tournament in Las Vegas.
Jordan Pope finished with 12 points, as he ends his season tied with Carson Cunningham for the Oregon State freshman points record. Pope also knocked down a pair of triples, to become the Beavers' all time freshman leader in 3-pointers made.
Glenn Taylor Jr. led the Beavers with 17 points, while Tyler Bilodeau had 11 points on 4-for-6 shooting to go with seven rebounds. Rodrigue Andela recorded six points, while Michael Rataj and KC Ibekwe pulled down five rebounds apiece.
Oregon State scored first, but Arizona State answered with a 6-0 run to go in front 9-4. The teams traded punches from there, with the Sun Devils leading 18-14 at the under-8 media break of the first half.
OSU used a 10-0 run to take a lead late in the first half, before ASU headed to the locker room up 29-26.
The Beavers scored the first five points of the second half to regain the advantage. The Sun Devils came back with seven unanswered points to head into the final 10 minutes of the contest up 43-36.
Arizona State extended the lead to 12, but Oregon State scored six-straight points to get back within striking distance.
The Beavers were within four with 1:15 to go, but could not take the lead, as the Sun Devils claimed the six-point win.
Oregon State ends the season with a record of 11-21.
