Beavers Fall to Ducks in Epic Battle at Gill

The game was played before a crowd of 7,270, including an Oregon State student attendance record of 2,742.

Dexter Akanno scored 17 points on 5-for-8 shooting from the floor – 3-for-4 from 3-point range. Rodrigue Andela tallied 10 points and seven rebounds, while Glenn Taylor Jr. had 12 points and five boards. Jordan Pope finished with eight points.

As a team, the Beavers shot 45.8 percent from the floor and 47.1 percent from 3-point range. Oregon shot 39.7 percent from the floor and 47.6 percent from beyond the arc.

The teams were level at seven three minutes into the game before Oregon scored seven-straight points to go in front 14-7. The Beavers responded by getting back within on, before the Ducks brought the lead back to five at the under-12 media break.

Dzmitry Ryuny tied things up at 25 with a 3-pointer seven minutes before the break. Oregon State took the lead before the intermission, but Oregon scored the final eight points of the opening period to head to the locker room up 35-29.

The Ducks extended the advantage to double-figures early in the second half. The Beavers answered by getting back within three with nine minutes to play.

Oregon State came back to take the lead from the stripe in the closing minutes, before Andela knocked down a jumper to put the Beavers up five with just over two minutes to go. Oregon brought the edge back to one with 1:31 to go.

After an Akanno basket, the Ducks leveled the score on a 3-pointer with 45 seconds on the clock. Oregon knocked down a jumper with less than a second to play to secure the win.

The Beavers will close out the regular season next week with a pair of home games against the Bay Area schools, beginning Thursday when Stanford visits Gill Coliseum.
