Weather Warning in Effect – Warming Centers and Overnight Sheltering available in Benton County

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for the Willamette Valley in effect until 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 23rd. Cold temperatures are expected through Saturday morning, but east winds will make it feel colder.

Plan on slippery road conditions. Hazardous conditions could impact morning or evening commutes. Slow down and use caution while driving. Benton County recommends having an emergency plan and supplies ready. Here are some safe travel tips.

Day-Time Warming Centers Available 

Warming centers continue to be available throughout Benton County as we continue to experience low temperatures this week.  Warming centers are indoor heated facilities that are free for members of the public to access during designated hours. Many of these locations also have pet crates available.

Overnight Sheltering Available

Unity Shelter continues to be available for overnight sheltering from 6:00 pm to 9:00 am nightly. 

In addition, Benton County has funded Faith Hope and Charity to provide severe weather overflow sheltering for unhoused Benton County residents. This is for individuals who are not able to access current Benton County shelters for whatever reason. Outreach is occurring within Benton County to identify individuals in need of overflow warming center services. For more information, contact healthdeptcommunications@co.benton.or.us.
