MEET THE FOES
Nevada (3-6) will be looking to snap a three-game losing streak in Maui after dropping games to San Diego, Long Beach State and Santa Clara. The Pack are led by Lexie Givens (11.1 ppg, 7.1 rpg) and Audrey Roden (10.3 ppg).
No. 11 LSU (10-0) enters the tournament as the Maui Classic's lone undefeated and ranked team. The Tigers will be OSU's first ranked opponent ever in Maui and represent a chance to get a statement win on a neutral floor. Angel Reese (24 ppg, 14.3 rpg) and Flau'jae Johnson (14.2 ppg) pace LSU offensively and on the boards.
IRON SHARPENS IRON
Through both Pac-12 play and non-conference showdowns, Oregon State continues to take on some of the top teams in the nation in 2022-23. The Beavers will play 13 games against nine teams either ranked or receiving votes in last week's AP Top 25. OSU is currently 0-2 in such games with another opportunity this weekend.
FANTASTIC FRESHMEN
Scott Rueck and company reeled in the best recruiting class in school history to bolster the Beavs in 2022-23 and beyond. McDonald's All-Americans Timea Gardiner (espnW No. 6) and Raegan Beers (espnW No. 10) headline a class that ESPN ranked third nationally. Four-star sharpshooters Adlee Blacklock and Lily Hansford augment the 2022 class while late-signee Martha Pietsch brings a strong international pedigree after playing on the German U-20 team.
MICROWAVE SCORER
After a year of development behind the Ellie Mack, sophomore AJ Marotte is ready to take on a bigger role in 2022-23. The Texan scored into double-digits in two games last season and has passed that total already this year with double-figure scoring in five contests.
