Cost of college went up for resident students at Oregon Coast Community College

In-state tuition and fees rose 7.4 percent for 2018-19 at Oregon Coast Community College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Oregon residents paid $4,446 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $306 more than the $4,140 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 86.2 percent more than residents this year, or $8,280. Their price tag was unchanged from $8,280 in 2017-18.

About 97 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Oregon residents. And about 3 percent are residents of other states.

Data shows 91 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 52 students received grants or scholarships totaling $299,747 and 19 students took out student loans totaling more than $96,510.

Including all undergraduates (409), 209 students used grants or scholarships totaling $1.1 million, and 130 students took out $784,473 in federal student loans.
