The Oregon State women’s track and field team competed across three California meets on April 4, achieving a total of 24 personal best performances. The Beavers split their squad between the Stanford Invitational, Mike Fanelli Distance Carnival, and Brutus Hamilton Invitational.
These results mark significant progress for the Oregon State athletes as they continue their outdoor season. Multiple athletes moved up in the program’s all-time rankings with their performances.
At the Stanford Invitational, Claire Lee finished fifth in pole vault while Carley Strand placed seventh. Maryann Ackerman led the javelin group with a third-place finish, and Anna Raimondi achieved a personal best in that event. Dede Norman was runner-up in high jump, showing consistency throughout her competition. On the track, Ainsley Herron won her section of the 1,500 meters with a personal-best time of 4:17.67 to become No. 3 all-time at Oregon State.
The Mike Fanelli Distance Carnival saw distance runners Paige Wiley, Reese Morkert, and Payton Smith each record personal bests in the 5,000 meters. Kate Laurent placed second out of a large field in the 1,500 meters with a new top-10 program mark of 4:22.06.
Saturday’s events featured strong showings from middle-distance runners Jillian Brown and Maya Baechler—each placing fourth in their respective sections of the 800 meters at Stanford—and Katie Gelston earning third place in discus throw. Havana Alonso captured first place among collegiate competitors in javelin with a personal-best throw that moved her to No.7 all-time for OSU.
At the Brutus Hamilton Invitational, Mia Fowler took second place in pole vault while Megan Hatcher set new marks both in hurdles and sprints to enter OSU’s top-10 list for those events as well.
These achievements reflect continued development within Oregon State’s women’s track and field program as athletes prepare for upcoming competitions.
