Oregon State University reported on May 9 that its women’s track and field team completed a weekend of competition at the Oregon Twilight in Eugene and the Portland Twilight, with several athletes setting personal records. The team achieved notable results in both field and track events, including a program top-five mark from Bea Pettersson in the hammer throw.

These performances are significant as they represent one of the team’s final conference competitions before upcoming championships. Athletes posted strong results across multiple disciplines, highlighting depth within the roster.

In Friday’s Oregon Twilight meet, Kaylen Rabalais placed second in the javelin with a throw of 42.75 meters. Claire Lee finished fourth in pole vault, narrowly missing her personal best at 3.77 meters, while Maddy Juhler recorded a season-best performance. Pettersson delivered a standout result by placing second in the hammer throw with a personal-best mark of 57.53 meters, moving her to No. 4 all-time for Oregon State in this event; she also took fifth place in shot put.

Other highlights included Dede Norman’s runner-up finish in high jump at 1.68 meters and Megan Hatcher’s win in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:00.87. In distance events, Ainsley Herron set a new personal record of 2:06.24 for second place in the 800 meters, while Maya Baechler ran her fastest-ever time of 4:13.12 for sixth place in an invitational section of the 1,500 meters.

At Saturday’s Portland Twilight meet, Jenna O’Beirne (2:10.89) and Maella Hodgson (2:11.62) both achieved personal bests in the women’s 800 meters; Delaney Ulrich also set a new record for herself by finishing the women’s 1,500 meters race at 4:28.72.

According to Oregon State Athletics officials cited within their mission statement released alongside these results: “Oregon State Athletics strives to Build Excellent Authentic Visionary Student-Athletes (Go BEAVS).”

The series of strong performances signals readiness as athletes approach postseason competition.
