Oregon State University announced on April 1 that its women’s gymnastics team will compete in the first session of the NCAA Gymnastics Corvallis Regional Semifinal this Friday at Gill Coliseum. The Beavers, ranked No. 25, will face No. 5 Alabama, No. 12 Utah, and No. 23 Denver at the event scheduled for April 3 at 1 p.m.
The meet is significant as it determines which teams advance to the regional final set for Sunday, April 5. The top two teams from Friday’s semifinal will move forward.
In their most recent competition on March 14, Oregon State posted a score of 196.925 against Denver during senior day at Gill Coliseum. Sophia Esposito won titles in vault, floor, and all-around events; Taylor DeVries took bars; and Kaylee Cheek claimed beam as the Beavers swept event titles with a season-best floor rotation score of 49.425.
Freshman Camryn Richardson has appeared in eight meets this season and enters Friday’s semifinal with consistent performances across her routines, including a career high-tying vault score of 9.850 against Denver and a top bars score of 9.925 versus Utah State earlier this year.
Junior Sophia Esposito has contributed significantly throughout her career with averages above nine points across all events this season and achieved perfect scores in each routine during three consecutive weeks leading up to the regionals.
Olivia Buckner and Savannah Miller have also completed more than thirty routines each this season while stepping into new roles for Oregon State.
Fifteen gymnasts performed at least one routine during the regular season; three finished with perfect hit rates—defined as any score of at least 9.650—including Esposito (42-for-42), Mia Heather (11-for-11), and Sophia Kaloudis (9-for-9). Eight additional athletes maintained hit rates above ninety percent over their routines.
Should Oregon State place among the top two teams on Friday, they will advance to Sunday’s regional final round.
