Oregon State men’s soccer players Nicklas Lund and Ellis Spikner have both earned Academic All-District honors, the College Sports Communicators announced on Tuesday.

The award recognizes the top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Academic All-District honorees advance to the Academic All-America ballot, with the first, second and third teams to be announced in early December.

Lund is a Business Administration major, and was named a Pac-12 Honorable Mention Tuesday morning. He has started every game for OSU during his two seasons with the team. He has helped Oregon State hold four clean sheets this season, including a shutout of No. 1 Washington last week.

Ellis Spikner is also majoring in Business Administration, and has three goals and two assists on the year. All three of the forward’s goals have been game-winners, including the strike that sealed a 3-2 victory over Portland on Oct. 14.

The Beavers were selected as the No. 8 seed in the NCAA Tournament Monday morning. OSU will host the winner of Thursday’s match between UC Riverside and Portland on Sunday at Lorenz Field. More info on the NCAA Tournament is available here.
