Madison Weir was named to the West Coast Conference All-Academic Team, while Paige Bambarger, Morgan Howey, and Tristian Thompson earned Honorable Mention honors, according to a May 14 announcement from the conference.
These awards recognize student-athletes for their achievements both on the field and in the classroom. Academic all-conference teams are selected based on athletic performance as well as academic success.
Weir concluded her senior season with a .275 batting average over 33 games, recording seven doubles, three home runs, and 12 runs batted in. She led all catchers with 29 starts and had eight multi-hit games. This marks Weir’s second career All-Conference Academic award.
Bambarger started infield for Oregon State in 30 of her 35 appearances this season. She posted a .289 batting average and tied for the team lead with three triples. Bambarger hit a home run during an April win over Seattle U; this is her first All-Conference Academic honor.
Howey finished her senior year hitting .325 with twelve doubles, eleven home runs, and thirty-two runs batted in. She was previously named Second Team All-Conference and set part of a program record as Oregon State hit sixty-two home runs this season. Howey also received Honorable Mention last year.
Thompson ranked second on the team and third in the conference with thirteen home runs this season while driving in forty-one runs. This is Thompson’s first time earning an academic honor from the conference after several standout performances throughout the year.
The full list of honorees includes athletes from across multiple universities within the West Coast Conference.
