Planning’s Community Meetings start this month!

Salem Area Meeting – Jan. 26Eugene Area Meeting – Feb. 9Siletz Area Meeting – Feb. 23Portland Area Meeting – March 9

The out-of-area Tribal members will meet via Zoom on March 23.

Because your input is needed to communicate your needs and priorities and for grant writing, the Planning department wants to spend more time listening to you. They will also update you on various projects that have completed as well as what is in progress.

Most of the meetings will be hybrid with in-person and Zoom connections. Meetings will be from 5:30-7:00 PM with the exception of Eugene. That meeting will meet from 6:00-7:30 PM.

Benton County has secured national experts through federal funding for an upcoming assessment of its jail and justice system. Consultants Alan Richardson and Roger Lichtman will tour facilities, meet stakeholders, review past efforts, then present recommendations during a public meeting on June 18.

A Wilsonville man was arrested after an eight-month investigation into allegations involving minors using Snapchat. Authorities say more victims are possible as the case continues. The Linn County Sheriff’s Office encourages anyone with information to come forward.

Oregon Supreme Court officials visit Benton County and tour new courthouse site

Oregon Supreme Court Chief Justice Meagan Flynn and State Court Administrator Nancy Cozine visited Benton County this week as part of efforts to understand local court needs. They toured both current facilities and ongoing construction at Benton County’s future courthouse while meeting with legal professionals and community members.
